Prayer call :)

For all of you who “aren’t in the loop,” I am having a cochlear implant put in my left ear on Wednesday morning at Riverside Hospital here in Columbus. It’s no big deal (what is, anymore, to me? Ha ha) but prayers are requested for a successful surgery and that the implant works well. We won’t know about the last part for about 2-4 weeks, because the implant is made up of two parts–the magnet under the skin and the interior wires/etc. in the cochlea (the inner ear), and the outer part, which is another magnet connected to what looks like a normal hearing aid. Until the swelling goes down at the surgery site, the two parts can’t be connected b/c they won’t work.

For more on this, check out The Bucket  where I will be posting all the post-surgery stuff.  I will not be blogging on Wednesday and probably not Thursday, either, since I’m spending the night there and when I get home will probably not be in “blogging” mode. But there may be new stuff on Friday.

Speaking of new stuff, I have begun Reasons to Believe and am taking notes as well as underlining passages I like. It is a dense book, moreso than Hahn’s others, so I am taking my time, instead of just plowing through them like I normally do. Usually I grasp his meaning fairly easily. This time I don’t want to just grasp it, I really want to absorb it. Hence the notes and such. But I am thoroughly enjoying it thus far.
